How to Simplify Your Wardrobe for a Weekend Trip
How to simplify your wardrobe…
When you’re packing for a weekend getaway, this could mean that all of your essentials (and your extras) need to fit into one carry-on. If I’m being totally honest, this frightens me because I typically bring LOTS of extras and have a really difficult time getting everything into one small carry-on. Anyone else??
I recently had a conversation with a friend, and she was sharing how challenging it can be to pack for a weekend away (yes, I am aware LOL). But she specifically shared the challenge with packing for a long-distance relationship. Traveling every other week makes the outfit selection difficult - trying to come up with new outfits, while also trying to avoid overpacking. Yes, I see the challenge at hand!
She asked me if I would share some tips to create outfits that are easy to mix and match, creating less to pack and simplifying the process. (insert superhero music here!) I love helping my friends and equally love a good ‘ole fashion challenge!
I’ve given this some thought and put together a few tips to help guide you/me/us, when thinking about and packing for a weekend getaway without a checked-bag.
#1 - choose pieces that are interchangeable
#2 - pack mostly neutrals and include something that adds a pop of color, such as a blazer or statement necklace
#3 - limit your shoes to 3 pairs max! I wear my sneakers on the plane to save room in my luggage.
#4 - if you love hats like me, wear your hat in flight!
#5 - pack pieces you FEEL GOOD IN! Don’t waste space on things you “kind of like”
